Dodines/Stirring Rods
Our Stainless barrel stirring rod is produced in collaboration with Aussie Products of Napa. This hand operated tool has an elliptical blade at the bottom of the rod that pivots and conforms to the surface of the barrel. Forward and backward movement produces a head to head rotation of the wine.
The blade physically moves virtually all lees into suspension with minimum oxidation. Normal mixing time is usually less than 30 seconds per barrel.
Winemakers using this stirring rod will achieve uniform mixing when making chemical additions to barrels.
Depending on the access to your barrels, four versions are available.

For use in barrel racks, where you must access the
barrel at its bilge. Stirring occurs from the side of
the barrel by rocking the handles side to side and
the blade from head to head.

For use where access is from the head of the barrel
or one high barrel stacking. Fits standard 7" barrel racks.
Stirring occurs from a head of the barrel by pushing
and pulling the handle and blade from head to head.

For use in barrel pyramids where a long curve is
desirable, or anywhere height access is not a factor.
Stirring occurs from a head of the barrel by pushing
and pulling the handle and blade from head to head.

For use in short racks or where height access is a
problem. Stirring occurs from a head of the barrel
by pushing and pulling the handle and blade from
head to head.
